The training provides an overview of Trauma-Informed Care, veterans, and military culture. Many of those who have served in the military have experienced significant traumatic events. This training offers knowledge of the military culture and how trauma impacts veterans, and most importantly, how we can support veterans in healing from trauma.

Addressing Racial Trauma II: Enhancing Allyship Skills Within Communities and Treatment

This training is designed to provide participants with information on how to enhance their ability to be an ally. This training begins with defining marginalization, allyship, and identifying common groups that are marginalized. The training moves to explore personal biases and how these impact one’s about to be an ally. The training provides exploration on self-reflection on how to enhance one’s ability to be an ally.
At the end of this training people will be able to:
1. Identify at least two groups of people that are marginalized
2. Identify at least two ways to empower the voices of marginalized people
3. Identify two personal biases

Medication Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD)

This training provided an overview of the most recent advances and knowledge around the effectiveness of all types of FDA-approved Medications for Opioid Use Disorders (MOUD). The training discussed clinical guidelines and procedures involved in initiating and retaining individuals’ on different types of MOUD, as well as barriers and treatments to treatment. Training facilitators also discussed ways of improving collaborations with MOUD providers and engaging MOUD clinicians in treatment planning.

Medication Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder and Opioid Reversal Agents

This training will provide an overview of the most recent advances and knowledge around the effectiveness of all types of FDA-approved Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD). New FDA-approved agents for MOUD will be reviewed. There will also be a discussion of how to address co-occurring substance use disorders (alcohol, cocaine, and methamphetamine). Additionally, the latest FDA-approved nasal rescue agents will be reviewed.

RNR: The Basics for Behavioral Health Providers

Designed for court clinicians and treatment providers working with Specialty Courts (e.g., Drug Courts, Veteran Treatment Courts), this course provides a basic introduction to RNR principles and practices including the meaning of risk levels, kinds of conditions that co-occur with substance use disorders and drive crime (i.e., criminogenic needs), and factors that affect access and engagement in treatment and rehabilitative programs.

Mapping RNR to the Massachusetts Drug Court Model

Provides an overview of how RNR maps onto NADCP Best Practice Standards and the Massachusetts Drug Court model and clinician’s role in these processes. Provides information on the Office of Community Corrections as a major provider of treatment and rehabilitative services targeting conditions that co-occur with substance use disorders and drive offending behavior.

RNR Discussion Session I: Risk-Need-Responsivity in Recovery Courts - Building a Shared Understanding to Foster Change

A discussion of MA Probation Service orientation and initiatives to promote positive behavioral change. This discussion is intended to develop a shared understanding of shifts in our system's orientation - from supervision/enforcement focus to supervision with treatment and rehabilitation. This session also includes a focused discussion on clinician's role in RNR implementation and real-life challenges encountered in the field. Clinicians will be able to bring RNR-related, real life challenges to their work and engage in a discussion of how to navigate challenges.

RNR Discussion Session II: Risk-Need-Responsivity in Recovery Courts - Case Study

Real life case studies will be presented to clinicians. Case studies will be informed by the challenges discussed in Session III (Building a Shared Understanding to Foster Change) and discussions with clinicians in the field. Clinicians will have an opportunity to use and apply the knowledge and skills gained in online trainings and the RNR Discussion Session I.

ASI series
ASI I
This training will help to build confidence in clinicians understanding and knowledge of the ASI so they may use it with more ease in their work. This training is to help clinicians understand the importance of utilizing the ASI as a best practice screening tool for Drug Court Clinicians. The training will focus on the importance of the ASI, how it can inform treatment planning, the functionality of it in drug courts and then will discuss the importance of scoring and interpretation.

ASI II
This training will help to build confidence in clinicians interview skills so they may deliver the screening assessment in a variety of situations. This training will assist clinicians with the interview piece of the ASI assessment. There will be discussion on best practices in delivering the ASI, addressing challenging situations during the interview process and mock interviews.

ASI III
This training will help to develop stronger clinical communication skills amongst drug court clinicians in order to improve drug court recommendations. This training will hone in on the connection between treatment planning developed on ASI scoring and the proper way to communicate and deliver clinical information within drug courts. Clinicians will learn skills for presenting their data to a diverse audience to support the clinical decision making for the individual.
