What is the Addiction Severity Index (ASI)?

The Addiction Severity Index (ASI) is an assessment tool used to assess an adult’s condition in 7 key areas that are typically affected by substance abuse, including medical status, employment, and more.

The ASI is helpful for practitioners in assessing clients so that they can determine the types of addiction treatments the client may need. The ASI is considered best practice for adult recovery courts in Massachusetts.

The ASI series is targeted towards court clinicians and community providers who utilize the Addiction Severity Index (ASI) assessment tool. This technical assistance will provide an overview of the ASI, and also:

  • Address implementation challenges
  • Discuss assessment and screening strategies
  • Offer practical role-play scenarios

The TREAT ASI series is designed and facilitated by Meaghan Dupuis, LMHC
