Specifically designed with court clinicians in mind, the Clinician Roundtable Series offers court clinicians a professional space to collaborate and troubleshoot work-related issues amongst peers. This series explores a variety of topics, including:


  • Professional Ethics
  • Confidentiality in the Courts
  • Sanctions/Incentives

Meaghan Flaherty Dupuis, LMHC, a mental health clinician with 13+ years of clinical experience within the correctional health care field, directs the day-to-day operations and administrative practices for the Health & Criminal Justice program’s contracts. Meaghan is the Executive Director of the Justice, Health & Equity Department at UMass Chan. She also oversees operations for the Academic Consortium on Criminal Justice Health, an academic community focused on correctional health care that is supported by Commonwealth Medicine, and its Academic and Health Policy Conference on Correctional Health.

Clinician Roundtable I: Confidentiality

Clinicians have an opportunity to discuss the limits of confidentiality while working within the court system. Conversations around duty to inform, what information is essential and how to approach challenging situations to maintain patient confidentiality will occur. Best practices for how to approach confidentiality issues will be discussed and developed.

Clinician Roundtable II: Ethics

Clinicians have an opportunity to discuss the ethics of working in a legal setting while working in a clinical role. Ethics play a large part in the work that everyone does within the court system and we will discuss ways of navigating ethical challenges that may be presented. Best practices for how to approach ethical issues will be discussed and developed.
