What is the TREAT Recovery Court Series?


The TREAT Recovery Court Series provides staff working in the Massachusetts Recovery Courts and community clinicians with the knowledge needed to understand and successfully navigate the Massachusetts trial court system and Recovery Court Model. This is a three-part series facilitated by our partners from the Executive Office of the Trial Court. Topics discussed in this series include Probation Service, Community Justice Support Centers, Recovery Court staff roles, probation violation processes, and case types.

Recovery Courts 101

Facilitated by Mike Coelho, Vincent Lorenti, Carmen Gomez, Rhonda Akers

This training provides an overview of the court system with a specific emphasis on the Massachusetts court system, Probation Service, and the Community Justice Support Centers. The training will also provide an overview of other topics, including probation supervision, the role of a probation officer, case types, and probation violation processes. Additionally, training participants will develop an understanding of the Community Justice Support Centers, pathways to Support Center participation, and Support Center programs and practices.

Recovery Courts 102

This training is a continued conversation on Massachusetts Courts overview. During this training the facilitators discuss the role of Community Justice Support Centers, Probation programs, Responding to violations of Probation, and an overview of Specialty Courts.

Recovery Courts 103

The Court 103 trainings focused on learning about Court-Based Behavioral Health Initiatives. During this training you will learn more about the Section 35 and Section 12 processes, pathways to access the Community Justice Support Centers, the BH-JI Initiative, Project North, and the Dee Kennedy Project. The training team will provide an overview of the target population for specialty courts and some data related to participants within the MA court system.
