Case Study: Motivational Interviewing and Trauma Informed Techniques for Assessments

This case study will demonstrate motivational interviewing and trauma informed techniques using the ORAS (Ohio Risk Assessment System) assessment. During the case, Facilitator Meghan McBride, MS, LADC1 will assume the role of staff member and Facilitator Jess Keaney, LISCW will assume the role of the client, Kim. At the end of the mock client interview, the Facilitators will review the techniques utilized.

The content shared in the course will include discussions of substance use, which may be triggering and/or lead to challenging emotional responses, for some. If you find that you are having a reaction to the material presented, feel free to pause and reflect on your response. It may be advisable to reach out to a trusted colleague or supervisor for additional support and to determine how best to proceed.
